In addition, this uniquely designed assessment measures 28 behavioral competencies carefully mapped to those nine facets. Each of the nine facets and 28 competencies is rated using a 6-point scale, ranging from fully disagree (1), disagree (2), somewhat disagree (3), somewhat agree (4), agree (5), to fully agree (6). Notice that a midpoint or average rating is not permitted, so raters have to clearly differentiate a strength from a weakness or development need.
Unlike many multirater or 360-degree surveys that utilize a wide variety of raters, we intentionally limit the rater categories to those individuals who are in the best position to observe and evaluate the participant (e.g., the boss, peers, direct reports). Other groups such as vendors, internal customers, external customers, and the manager’s manager are not included. Learning agility and emotional intelligence are more difficult to rate than other work-related skills. Consequently, the results are not diluted by the input of raters who seldom interact directly with the participants. It also limits rater fatigue in an organization.
The TALENTx360 Multirater Survey can be used as a standalone instrument or applied in combination with the TALENTx7 Assessment across time. For example, an organization could apply the TALENTx7 Assessment at Time 1 to help in selection decisions and onboarding hired candidates, then use the TALENTx360 Survey to provide feedback for development and coaching at Time 2, and then readminister the TALENTx7 Assessment for ongoing leadership development.
