What’s Smarter than IQ and More Important than EQ: The Answer – Learning Agility
Executive Summary
Scientists have been studying IQ for more than a century and there appears to be little doubt of its importance to job performance. While the concept of emotional intelligence or EQ first came in to prominence during the mid-1990s, there seems to be much agreement that it likewise plays a huge role in employee performance (particularly for managers). Most recently, learning agility has been proposed to be a critical attribute in leader success. This research paper examined IQ, EQ, and learning agility relative to leader performance and potential through the lens of meta-analysis. The results were pretty remarkable, showing that learning agility was the number one predictor of job performance – bar none!
